Following Jim and Deb Fallowses’ talk at the World Affairs Council in Jacksonville on April 9, 2019, Jim Crooks, professor emeritus of history at the University of North Florida discussed the Fallowses’ 10 1/2 signs of civic success and how Jacksonville measures up against them.
He gives the city high marks on five of their criteria including public-private partnerships, a good community college, and distinctive, innovative public schools. He questions several others and challenges the citizens to reflect upon them as their incumbent mayor begins a second term.
