In his February 15, 2019 column, Pete Golis references Deb Fallows‘ findings about the changing nature of libraries. “The best libraries, she wrote for The Atlantic magazine, are ‘bustling civic centers’ where technology, education and community come together.”
Sonoma County passed a tax measure in 2016 to improve library access, expand collections, and improve buildings. Still, Golis feels, there is work to do, particularly in Roseland where the branch has been housed in the front section of an abandoned store for almost four years. He concludes, “All of our libraries should be places we want to show off when our grandchildren come to town.”
